Turned to God. April 9
For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; 1 Thessalonians 1:9
Paul’s letters to the believers at Thessalonica were full of encouragement. Paul was so proud that they had Turned to God. Just what did he mean when he said you have turned to God. It means they had been going the way of the world and the sins thereof. But when they heard the good news of Jesus. They turned from their sins and false hopes of what the world offered and put there faith, trust and hope in the one true God. That’s where A Christian begins. Even after that our lives become one of separation from the ungodly things around us and a clinging more and more to the things of God. This is often called our sanctification, which means to be made holy or set apart for God. Then Paul adds verse 10:
And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
So they turned to God and away from the worthless. Then they patiently waited for Jesus to come again. May God grant us to be Able to do the same.
