To stir you up. April 25
Yea , I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance. 2 Peter 1:13
The apostle Peter writes in his last letter to the believers. Saying, as long as I am in this body. I will attempt to stir you up according to the things of God. Peter knew how easy it was for even a believer to settle into the world system and values around them. So he wrote and encouraged the brethren to be stirred in their hearts unto the things of God. Mainly by two things. One: the testimony of eyewitnesses of Christ while he was on the earth. Peter mentions hearing the voice of the Father from heaven, saying: this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. What a marvelous thing to be a witness of. But Peter goes on to say there is another reason we should be stirred in our hearts and that is the word of God. Peter went on to say this is even more sure than the voice from heaven. Peter said Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. It was recorded and we have it as our bible today. This is why it is so important we spend quality time in Gods word. It stirs the realities of God in our hearts and lives. It causes us to be renewed in spirit to the truth. That I am Gods child and my main goal upon this earth is to know him, please him and be ready to see him soon. Listen to Peters instruction in his last letter to whom he calls the beloved (you and me). This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: that ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the lord and Saviour.
