Time to Suit Up - Pt. 5 - June 8
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.”
To finish up on the armor of God remember.. take unto you the belt of truth, a breastplate of righteousness, feet prepared with the good news of the gospel, a shield of faith, a helmet of knowing that whatever happens I’m saved and on my way to heaven.. my victory is sure!
Lastly, take the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. This sword has two edges.. on one side it is a defense for our souls, the other side is to be used as an offensive weapon to be used to see Gods will accomplished in our lives and the lives of others! We should take up Gods Word each day just as a soldier of old would suit up with his weapon each day. For it is a strong weapon against satans schemes.. it has answers for every season of our lives. Seasons change but His Word abides and guides through them
all! There is an excellent example in an Old Testament character named Eleazar, this story can be found in 2 Samuel 23. In his day the Philistines, the arch enemy of Israel, were strong. Israel was afraid. One day Eleazar decided.. I’m standing with my sword! He took his sword, everyone else fled, but he arose and smote the Philistines with the sword until they were defeated! He won a great victory for Israel that day! The Bible says his hand was weary.. but instead of dropping his sword, his hand clave unto it.
Brothers and Sisters in Christ..we may at times face battles that make us weary.. but let’s be an Eleazar.. instead of dropping Gods Word, let’s cling unto it! And if we will our victory is sure!
