The wounds of a friend. August 5
Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. Proverbs 27:6
Each of us enjoy smooth sailing, times when everything is just right. But the truth is, these can be dangerous times. We tend to forget God or at least not seek him diligently. So in life there seems to always be something that keeps the boat rocking. One danger or another lurking close by. For a Christian this should cause us to remember I’m not the one in control here. It is my God and he has given me a promise “all things work together for good to those who love the lord and are the called according to his purpose”. Wherever we go from here if we will cling to Jesus we know this problem or difficult time is going to, in the long run work for our good. Problems often times refine us, we find things in our lives that shouldn’t be there and we remove or grow past. They also help us to be able to help those around us. We having experienced the difficulties ourselves, have compassion for those in difficulties. I would imagine Jesus read proverbs 27:6 many times growing up. Sometime he began to realize how real this would be to him when Judas would betray him with a kiss. On the other hand it seems his Heavenly Father was awful rough on him. But today we know the outcome, Jesus sits in glory with the Father. So will it be for you and I as we believe and trust God, enduring the difficult times for we know that in them God is working for our good.
