The Pearl of great Price. January 31.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it. Matthew 13:45-46
Jesus was telling stories about what the kingdom of heaven was like. I often wonder how He could say so much in such short verses but He sure does. Here He likens the kingdom to hidden treasure and a great pearl. Which speaks of salvations worth and beauty. He goes on to say that the men in the stories, after they had found the treasure and the pearl, went and sold all they had to secure what they had found. How precious God must be, it is worth all we have to know Him and be with Him. No one forced these men to give all, they did it willingly once they saw the worth of there prize. Still today Gods kingdom is worth all a man or woman has. It becomes more and more of a joy to freely give our lives to God in devotion and love. No man can compel us to do this, they can try but it will be to little avaiL. But let a man or woman by the Holy Spirit catch a glimpse of this kingdom in their spirit and nothing will stop them from keeping this pearl of great price as their main object in life. This very day may the almighty Lord give us a view of the treasure found in His salvation and may we give all to obtain this greatest prize.
