The Lord Stirred. August 27
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the Spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying. Ezra 1:1
Israel had been carried away captive into the land of Babylon. They had been there for about 70 years. A new king who’s name was Cyrus the Persian had taken over. He was one of the most powerful men in all the world. It was his first year as king. You would think he would want to establish his dominance over his kingdom. But instead he decides I’m going to let all the Israelites that want, to go back to their homeland.
Its not much like a king to willingly give up His subjects. So what’s going on? The simple answer is God almighty had stirred his heart to do this thing. If God can stir the heart of king Cyrus , I believe he can stir anyone’s heart. Don’t get to discouraged or disappointed in a situation we never know what our great God may Be doing. Let’s trust him. He may at this moment be stirring a great deliverance for you or someone you care about. So rejoice and praise our God. And be praying, God stir the situation for your glory and our good as you did for Israel of Old.
