The Lord sees the heart. May 2

For the lord seeth not as man seeth ; for man looketh Upon the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh upon the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7

Oh how different God sees, than man. Man often judges a person by outward appearances. But that judgement can often be wrong. God however looks into the heart, the inner person, and knows us. Isn’t this great, for we may not measure up to much at all, by the way the world judges. But to God we may be like David, just the person he’s looking for to accomplish his will. What was the characteristics that God found such pleasure in? David, the bible says was a man after God’s own heart. This means he wanted to know God, please God, and bring honor to Gods name. And he believed God could do anything. Even defeat a giant, thru him. David was not a perfect man, but his heart was to honor God. Physically Davids presence was not much. Goliath belittled and despised him for he certainly didn’t look like much of a challenge and certainly didn’t look like a warrior. However those famous words of David still ring loud and clear for a person of faith today. “Thou comest to me with a sword and a spear and a shield. But I come to thee in the name of the lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast despised. We know how that battle went. So today whether you feel like you have much or little it is best to put our trust in God not visible things. Our victory lies in faith, trust, and a desire to see Gods name and the name of his son Jesus honored in our world today. Don’t fear if you feel like you lack what you need. Humble yourself before God, ask for his help and watch Him work in our behalf.
