The Kingdom of God. August 18
And when he was demanded of the pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with observation: Nether shall they say, Lo here! Or, Lo there! For, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Luke 17:20-21
Often times we can’t see what God is doing around us. But be sure of this he is actively at work, thru his great love for us and our own prayers. Elijah in 1 kings 19 felt discouraged over the nation of Israel‘s Lack of devotion to God. He was even questioning God as to why he didn’t do something about it. God sent him to a mountain and put him in a cave, suddenly there was a great wind that even broke rocks. Don’t you know Elijah thought I’m fixing to see God. But the Bible says God wasn’t in the wind. Then an earthquake, however God was not in the earthquake. Lo and behold a fire, surely now God is fixing to reveal himself to Elijah. Nope God was not in the fire. You see, God and what he does is often not visible or grand as far as man can see. However, after the fire came a still small voice. It’s odd to me during the wind, earthquake and fire Elijah had not covered his face. Elijah was a strong man, these things didn’t startle him. But when the still small voice appeared he wrapped his face in his mantle. This means he knew God was near and had come to speak with him and he feared. There is nothing we each need more than to commune in quiet with God. In prayer and study of Gods word, We will hear him, and nothing this world can offer can even come close, to being in his presence. Don’t let anything keep you from your time with God each day. Much will call for your attention, but no matter how shiny or how loud, you remember, Gods not always in that. But I can find him in quiet meditation and communion And this is where he does great and marvelous things in men and women. God bless you today.
