The King on His Throne. July 21

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take council together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Psalm 2:1-4

Seems their is always someone, something or some group always devising an evil scheme to undue or hinder the plan and purpose of God. This psalm was written, many believe for the crowning of King David. Even though David had been chosen and anointed by God to be the king of Israel. There was some who were opposed to the plan. So they fought against David. This psalm is a reference to the true king, Jesus Christ and his Father. Certainly God has chosen Jesus Christ to be the true King of kings and to reign forever. Just as in David’s day there are some who are opposed to his reign and Gods plan. They despise Gods laws, morals, purity and word. They fight against God his purposes and his people. This sounds a little scary, until we realize , wait a minute these are only men and women and he is God. For thousands of years now, God has been thwarting the enemies plans. At times, momentarily evil prevails for a season here in this earth and those who are aligned with the evil forces, rejoice. But brothers and sisters we need to remember, Gods plan for us and eternity goes way beyond here. Into the heaven God has prepared. There no evil can ever enter, all will be peace and joy with God forever. This earth will pass away and before that, evil will grow worse and worse. Some will think we are really breaking Gods plan now. God sits in heaven knowing that will never happen, shaking his head with a smile on his face. Fully confident that what he has started he will surely finish. Let’s put our faith and trust in Jesus, continue to be obedient to him and we cannot lose as we stay in his plan. God bless.
