The body of our Lord. April 7
And as they were eating Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and break it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, take, eat; this is my body.
We talk much about the blood of our Lord, and rightly so. Our covenant, the New Testament, is in his blood. But what about his body, his flesh, oh there is much blessing here also. We know thru the Roman scourging, the beating and ill treatment of his precious body that our lord was bruised and torn. This was for you and me.
How?Why? There is more here than teaching us to pray over our food, while this is a good thing. Look at sum benefits of the lords body being given to us: First let’s read Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgression. He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him ; and with his stripes we are healed. Mans sins are more than a dishonor to God, it is also a poison to our own lives. It causes problems of all sorts: physical, emotional, just simply put in all areas of our lives. And oh yes we need forgiveness but we also need healing, restoration of Soul, body, peace. Sometimes emotionally, mentally we need healing. Oh thank God, he was wounded for our transgression, bruised for our iniquities. Now look at this precious promise: The chastisement of our peace was upon him. In our language: The punishment necessary for our peace was laid on him. Just as we have forgiveness thru his blood so we also have peace and restoration by his body also. When we accept Christ not only are our sins forgiven we are made whole and complete also. Praise God: peace returns, joy returns a soundness of mind and soul return. These things just didn’t occur. They were won by our lord Jesus. He, by his body and blood, purchased our healing, inward and outward. Oh thank God for our peace. Today your peace may be tested but Jesus said before he left : My peace I leave to you. He won it and he leaves it, even today for us to live upon. In John 6:35 he said : I am the bread of life: Most everyone reading today: has eaten some food, for our strength and enjoyment. Well today, each day, partake of Your Lord and you’ll find all you need For strength and enjoyment.
