Strong Comfort. November 15
That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Hebrews 6:18
Doesn’t those two words sound good; Strong Comfort. This is exactly what God wants us, as his children to have. Once again He uses the story of His dealings with Abraham. He told Abraham that he would bless him and multiply him. Abraham was a lot like us, How Lord? Seeing all this trouble. So God made an oath with Abraham, a covenant and he made it sure by: listen to this: He swear by himself that it would be. Don’t you think that’s pretty good collateral. God says I back this promise up with my own word. Friends that’s what we call a done deal. And sure enough, all God promised Abraham came to pass. As he walked in faith and patiently endured. You know what God has made a covenant, a promise to you also. A promise of salvation and eternal life thru His son Jesus Christ. Thru Him we receive forgiveness, the new birth, help and hope of an eternal home. Of course the enemy of man and God, will do all he can to hinder us and our hope and if we let that old devil have his way, he can get us awful low. So God says I give you my promise and I will not lie: to all who believe and trust my Son and have fled this sinful, corrupt world to lay hold of eternal life. I give you an anchor to hold to, thru every test, trial, storm, fear, doubt whatever may assault you. Just listen :
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Hebrews 6:19-20
Friends our anchor goes all the way into the very dwelling place of God. Quit relying on yourself what you have or haven’t done. Our salvation is more sure than that. Our salvation is anchored to Jesus Christ and his work not mans. Praise God today, just as His promises to Abraham came true so will His promises to us. Simply keep walking with faith and patience
In the one who can’t lie. Receive this strong comfort today, that our lives are anchored in God.
