Seeing by Faith
For now we see thru a glass darkly, but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as I am also known. 1 Corinthians 13:12
In Pauls day historians tell us that most mirrors were made from finely polished metal. The Romans did have glass but it wasn’t nearly as clear as ours. What Paul was saying was that we see some of Gods grand design but somethings we don’t fully see, yet. Oh one day we will see and know clearly. Only eternity will unfold the whole scheme of the gospel. Until then Paul went on to say we go by Faith: a belief that God is good, has sent his Son and thru him is working our salvation. Whatever happens, by Faith I believe it will turn for our good. We can’t always see this with our sight but by faith we believe in Gods love for us. We also, Paul said go by Hope: which is a confident expectation. There are things you and I don’t like and can’t fully understand but we have a hope we will one day be passed those and they will have even worked for our good. Then Paul concludes by saying we go by Love: love for God and love for others. A patient, tender , kind, forgiving attitude toward all. So many people in this world are growing bitter . Often things have happened they didn’t understand. But for the Christian we believe God loves me and is working for my good and one day I’ll see the result clearly. Until then let’s Trust God.
