Ministered to the Lord. July 20
As they ministered to the lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
We often are ministered to by the Lord. We are helped, provided for, encouraged, just simply cared for. Thank God for this!! But in our scripture today something different was occurring. The church at Antioch was ministering to the Lord. Wow, what a reversal. Instead of them asking for his help, which is fine to do, they were saying Lord what is it we can do for you. It’s obvious why the church at Antioch was where the followers of Christ were first called Christians. They no longer were Jew or gentile, rich or poor but servants of Christ, ready to do his will. As they prayed and fasted, God answered and said, yes, there is something you can do for me. Send Paul and Barnabas as the first missionaries. They did, and just look how the Gospel has spread, even unto us today. As we live our lives, sure ask for Gods help but also let’s be serious with asking God, what is it Lord that we can do for you? How can I lord help you. Many already are and thank you for what you do for God and his church. Let’s continue to be servants “Christians” in our World today.
