Judge not. August 12
But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of mans judgement: Yea I judge not my own self. For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. 1 Corinthians 4:3-4
Pauls says something interesting in this verse“I judge not my own self”. What was he saying? There are other places in the Bible that say if we will judge ourselves we should not be judged. Meaning if we will correct ourselves, someone else won’t have to. I believe in Paul’s case he was saying don’t put to much importance on what you think of yourself. At first that sounds a little strange. But what he was saying, just follow the lord Jesus. Don’t always be examining yourself or others, concentrate more on walking in step with Jesus and his will for you. If we’re continually looking within our own self we will grow disappointed and tired. We won’t always like what we find. But if we will look to Jesus and all he has done for us and is doing in us, we will grow stronger, encouraged and more confident in God. Friend it his him in us who will lead us to victory. Certainly I trust his judgement much more than my own. Paul said it is the Lord who judgeth us. If he finds something that shouldn’t be there he doesn’t get down on us or give up on us and neither does he toss us away but he works to perfect us, through his Holy Spirit, his word and others. Be encouraged today God is for us not against us. Sometimes we can be to hard on ourselves. Today let’s enjoy being who God has made us , knowing he is guiding me onward.
