By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones. Hebrews 11:22
Joseph had been ill treated by his brothers, in the land of Israel. They sold him as a slave and he was carried away into Egypt. There in Egypt after a series of events, he went from slave to second in command of all Egypt. Eventually saving everyone including his brothers by the instructions God gave him. So in Egypt Joseph was a hero, highly respected and had anything he wanted in the land of Egypt. Found a wife, raised a family. Things certainly were good for Joseph in Egypt, there he had been treated better than anywhere he had been. But before he died he made the Israelites promise to not leave his bones in Egypt but carry them up back to Israel when God would bring the children of Israel out of slavery. Joseph knew being in Gods will, Gods place meant so much more than anything Egypt had to offer. He desired to be in God. This world may treat us good from time to time but brothers and sisters don’t settle here. Our home is in heaven our blessings are remaining in God along the journey. By faith Joseph knew Gods country was the place to be whether dead or alive. By faith you and I see the same, to be in God wherever and whatever He has for us is our goal. O lord don’t leave us here when you come again!!!
