He Staggered not. October 14

He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; Romans 4:20

Think of the promises God gave Abraham. He promised to give him and his descendants the land we now know of as Israel. He promised him descendants as numerous as the stars of the sky and the sand which is by the sea shore. He was saying there will be so many that they will be uncountable. And even promised him that all nations would be blessed thru him. But for many years he had not one descendant. As a matter of fact when he reached about 100 years old and his wife Sara was about 90 they still had no child. Yet they continued to believe God. Scripture says he staggered not at the promises of God. That word staggered is translated to our English Bible from the Greek word diakrino. The primary meaning of diakrino is to separate. What the scriptures is saying was that Abraham refused to let his life be separated from the promises of God. Now Abraham was believing for his promises of land and descendants, even nations coming from him. And they were fulfilled. Even all nations were blessed by his descendant Jesus Christ. Now you and I are believing for our promises from God, mainly salvation, an eternal home. Today, as Abrahams day there are many troubles and difficulties. We need to not let our lives be separated from the promises God gave us thru Jesus our Lord. Keep them close to your heart. Keep your life centered around him and his return For you. We may not always understand everything, but we can cling close to his promises of forgiveness and eternal life. Abraham just simply wouldn’t quit believing and trusting God. And it was counted unto him for righteousness. Scripture teaches it will be the same for us if we will continue to believe in God who raised Jesus from the dead. Who was delivered for our offenses and raised again for our justification. Do not let anything separate your life from the promises of God.
