Fruits in season. February 7.
They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. Matthew 21:41
Jesus had told a story about an owner who had built a vineyard and everything else that was necessary for a successful farm. Then he leased it out to some farmers to operate. This was, sometimes how wealthier people in biblical days would make investments. Build a vineyard and let others operate, then share the profits. After a while the owner would come looking for his share of the fruits. Just as God has set us up with everything we need to be successful for Him. He surely comes at times to our lives, expecting to find the good fruit of godly progress from us. The original farmers in Jesus story didn’t come thru and they even persecuted and killed the owners servants whom he sent to collect his due, finally they even killed the owners son. This is a reference to Israel concerning all the teachers, preachers, prophets and even Jesus, that God sent to them to bring them to fruitfulness. All these they rejected. So in our verse God rejected them and sent the good news of salvation to the Gentiles. Now it is our turn to bear fruit for God. Let’s obey and give Him is due, as He asks of us. Thru abiding in Jesus, prayer, studying scripture, giving, helping others and laboring for Him in His vineyard (earth). Notice our verse says we will bring forth fruits in their season. This is what God desires of us, only to do what we can in the particular season of our lives. Some seasons of life may seem very fruitful, others we may not feel like we’re accomplishing a whole lot. Either way what is important is that whatever season we’re in we are to abide in Jesus. This is where our fruit comes from in the first place. Just stay connected to the vine of Christ. And we will bring forth His fruit in His season.
