Faith October 30
Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered. And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away! Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Matthew 21:18-22
Seems Jesus had not been in a good mood lately. The day before, He had cleansed the temple of those who were misusing it. The next morning he goes up to a fig tree for breakfast. It has no figs, so he pronounces a curse on the tree and it withers away. This was getting very close to him going to the cross and I’m sure the pressure was weighing on him, after all he experienced life, so he could know how we feel. So it is not like, He was unaffected by his trials, He was deeply affected by the things of life. But He also took the time and taught a lesson on faith in the midst of the moment. And that lesson is if we can believe and not doubt all things are possible when we pray. Hmm! I guess we could try and explain this away. Or we can let the Lords own words speak for themselves. Makes me want to go and pray today, don’t it you. As a matter of fact I believe I will. Have a blessed day in the Lord , today.
