Examine yourself. June 26
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
2 Corinthians 13:5
This is good advice Paul gave the believers at Corinth. It’s also good for each of us from time to time to examine ourselves, to make sure we’re still on the path with Jesus, heading to eternal life. Some good questions to ask ourselves: Am I still praying? Am I still reading and studying my bible? Am I still gathering together with other believers? Am I still loving and helping people when I can? Am I still being obedient to God in my lifestyle?
If we can confidently answer yes to these questions, it’s a good indicator we’re still walking in the faith. If we feel weak in some of these areas, Paul didn’t tell them to examine themselves, so they could condemn themselves, but that they would make a course change and be in the faith with God. God has promised to help us if we just remain in the faith. I love that promise from scripture: What he has begun in us He will bring to completion. May God help us to remain in the way today.
