Dying to self / living for Christ. May 13
I am crucified with Christ nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
When we accept Christ and are converted from a sinful lifestyle to a life in God, we die to self. Paul says it in strong terms, “I am crucified” meaning Paul’s old life and his desires died with Christ. So it is for us when we trust in Christ he comes inside of us and takes over our desires. We no longer want to live for self but for him. A large part of our lives begin to be denying our desires especially sinful desires which still try and hinder us and even denying old ambitions of the world. Now thank God denying self is only a part of our new life. Notice what Paul says in our verse ; nevertheless I live. Now I live for Christ who is in me. There is so much to now live for, God says in my presence is fullness of joy and at my right hand is pleasures forevermore. God may very well keep us in our same profession, are same jobs and activities. But with new aspirations of how can I use this for Gods honor.Who is Real life to me now. Ask God, be willing to do as he leads and watch him lead your life. It won’t always be easy but it is sure good to know he is living in me And helping me. And I’ve got something worth living for. So don’t let your Christian walk just be about denying yourself but also knowing there’s a whole life to be lived with Christ in his will and purpose for me on the earth and even on into the eternity God has planned for us.
