Double assurance. Pt 2. June 2
For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sakes.
God wants us to have assurance and much confidence in him and in his promises. I was picking on my grandson the other day, he ran to the back of the house and got his Mimi. He came back with her, put his hands on his hips and said look who’s here now. We’ll Christian when we pray and humble ourselves under God, he comes to our aid. (look who’s here now). When Paul had preached the good news of the gospel to the Thessalonians the Holy Spirit also came in power and much assurance. I pray during this time the Holy Spirit will come to us with inward power and assurance. When Paul preached to them it was not only words But something happened on the inside of those who believed. They knew, felt they were forgiven and now had God as there helper and that the enemy of their soul was defeated. A newness and freshness had come to their lives. The outward circumstances may not have changed that was around them. But inwardly they knew all was well for God is with us. This is the same assurance we have within us today. I’m ok, because whatever comes our way God now rules in this life. I can trust him to see to it that whatever comes he will work for our good. The Thessalonians had began their Christian race with much assurance. Now their journey would be long as ours is with many ups and down. in these times the same enemy they had will try and steal our assurance. This is exactly why Paul wrote 1st and 2nd Thessalonians to reassure them in difficult times. Just read them for yourselves and listen to him reassuring them. You and I will at times need reassurance also. As a matter of fact, most of the New Testament is for our assurance and reassurance. I pray God will reassure you in these times and I know he will through his word and the power of the Holy Spirit.
