But God was with him. Pt1. May 14

And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt : but God was with him. Acts 7:9

The story of Joseph In Genesis chapters 37-48 is one of the great stories of the Bible. Joseph a favorite son of his fathers 12 sons. Who even had dreams of promise of greatness given to him by God. But because of the envy of his brothers was sold into slavery and carried far away into Egypt. One would think ,well that’s the end of him the kid sure had promise but it wasn’t meant to be I guess. And that seems to be a good assessment except for one little sentence in the Bible “but God was with him”. Oh if God be with us, no plan of the enemy can defeat us. Now God didn’t lead Joseph on a feathery pillow as a matter of fact some of Joseph’s life was downright hard. And so will it be for us. But oh how God stayed with him, thru all of his adversity. Joseph was brought into the depths of trials but one thing to remember pearls lie deep. It is in adversity and real difficulties we will find the treasure of who God is and what he has done for us through Christ Jesus his son. I can only imagine some of Joseph’s thought as he lay at night in an Egyptian prison cell. But greater than this can you imagine his thoughts that first night as he lied down in a palace having suddenly been placed 2nd in command of all Egypt . It surely crossed his mind,God you are faithful. We will also find God to be faithful to us as we follow his son. To be continued....
