All Shook up? July 2

The Thessalonians seemed to have become shaken by events, rumors etc.... surrounding them. The uncertainty of things had become unnerving to them. Sounds a little like today. Their source of information seemed conflicting, counteracting and contradictory, again this sounds a lot like today. So Paul gives them the sure way, the secure way, the solid way. To prevent them from being all shook up. He gave them the word of God. Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-2 . Someone had told the Thessalonians that Christ had already come and so they were worried. The Old devil will try anything he can to upset Gods people. Paul settles them back down by saying oh he’s not come yet . Don’t you remember how I taught and what the word of God says , that his coming will be like the lightning that lights the sky from one end to the other. And besides Paul adds there must first be a falling away from God and things pure and good. ( seems were there right now). Then Paul adds the wicked anti christ shall be revealed. Today’s events make one think just how close we may be to these happenings. But nevertheless listen to what Paul says in 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17 but we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the spirit and belief of the truth. Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word , or our epistle. Now our lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace. Comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.

Brothers and sisters in these days let’s keep our hope upon God and the promises of our Lord. That we are not appointed to the wrath of God but unto his salvation. Our redemption draweth Closer every moment. God bless.
